MARKET UPDATE
(Markets were closed on 11/02/2022, Saturday)
FMCG
Marico is looking to buy direct-to-consumer (D2C) businesses in the food and personal care sectors as it bets on growing digital commerce. A sustained increase in business and volume growth by D2C brands has been observed by the company that purchased stakes in Just Herbs, Beardo, and True Elements in the domestic market, exceeding the acquisitions' predetermined targets.
In 2017, the corporation bought a share in Beardo, and in 2020 it gained ownership. It holds that mergers and acquisitions are advantageous for both the brands and the established FMCG companies.
"The goal of the project was to comprehend how the ecosystem is developing. This facilitates our ability to do digital marketing and communicate with customers online. The whole point of entering the D2C market is to take some of the lessons learned and use them in certain areas of our current portfolio. We have completed three acquisitions, and each one has exceeded our expectations, according to Pawan Agrawal.

TECH
The world of technology is taken by the storm after the arrival of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The AI based chatbot is part of sophisticated systems that produces content from text to images - that is set to be one of the most disruptive forces in a decade to big tech, industries and the future of work. However, the world of technology could no longer witness the monopoly of ChatGPT, hence Google swept in with its own AI chatbot called Bard and Baidu with its Ernie.
ChatGPT
As per Open AI, the AI based ChatGPT platform has been trained using the Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF). In simple words, the human AI trainers initially provided conversations in which they played both the AI assistant and the user. Moreover, the company had given access to trainers about model-written suggestions which helped the trainers to compose their responses.
Bard
Google’s Bard is based on LaMDA, the firm's Language Model for Dialogue Applications system, and has been in development for several years. The AI bot primarily draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses and offers up-to-the date responses, something ChatGPT is unable to do as it is mainly programmed to run on data fed to it.
Ernie
Ernie BOT, an AI based bot from Baidu is still under development and Baidu will complete the internal testing of a ChatGPT-style project called "Ernie Bot" in March, joining a global race as interest in generative artificial intelligence (AI) gathers steam.
ANYTHING INTERSETING
According to new research, the world's best artificial intelligence (AI) is roughly as smart as a pigeon at its most basic level.
After conducting extensive research into the inner workings of the bird's brain, experts discovered that the "brute force" procedures used to learn share similarities with AI.
Pigeons as messengers ""People are astonished by AI performing incredible things using a learning algorithm, much like the pigeon," Prof Wasserman added. "Associative learning in humans and animals is often dismissed as rigid and unsophisticated.
This way of learning through recognition is known as associative learning, whereas humans usually rely on declarative learning. For example, most of us don't need to touch a hot stove to know that it will hurt - whereas something that relies on associative learning would.
