The Story :

Marico Limited said it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Vietnam-based personal care firm Beauty X Corporation for Rs172 crore.

Beauty X owns female personal care brands Purité de Prôvence and Ôliv, which offer a range of products such as shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, face wash, and lotions, among others. The deal is done through its wholly owned subsidiary, Marico South-East Asia Corporation (MSEA), and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2023, subject to regulatory approvals.

“The addition of Purité de Prôvence and Ôliv presents an opportunity to significantly expand our play in the female beauty and personal care category and increase our total addressable market in a high-growth country like Vietnam. Both brands have established a distinct natural proposition and scaled up profitably in a rather short span of time," said Saugata Gupta, MD, and CEO, of Marico. "We are buoyant about the medium-term prospects of the beauty and personal care category in Vietnam and expect to further step up growth and profitability through investing in brand building and leveraging various operational synergies with our existing portfolio over the next few years.”

During the last calendar year, Beauty X posted sales of Rs82 crore, a 4% decline. Marico’s International business contributes to about 23% of the group’s revenue, with brands such as Parachute, Fiancée, Caivil, Hercules, and Isoplus.

The Story :

Tomorrow marks the official debut of BMW Motorrad's S 1000 RR sportsbike in India. At India Bike Week 2022, the business displayed its flagship bike. Three colours will be available for this bicycle. Prices for this bike currently start at 19.75 lakh (ex-showroom), with a predicted increase to 23.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It will face off against the Honda Fireblade, Ducati Panigale V4, and Aprilia RSV4 1100, to name a few.

The 999cc inline-four motor in the BMW S 1000 RR now produces 210 horsepower, with torque remaining constant at 113 Nm. The wheelbase has also been slightly extended from 1440mm to 1458mm.

The chassis of BMW's top model has undergone the most extensive revisions, with numerous adjustments made to the geometry of the BMW S 1000 RR. When a motorcycle is leaned over, the suspension stroke does not line up with the road bumps, therefore it is crucial for the chassis to bend in a regulated way to absorb road imperfections. The manufacturer altered the structure of the frame to allow for additional lateral flex.
